Type and Value of Award

Loans or half-loan half-grants ranging from RM10,000 to RM30,000 per annum depending on courses undertaken. Successful awardees will not be allowed to hold scholarships or financial assistance from other organizations.

The Aeronautical Engineering course was first offered by UTM during the 1980/81 session and was jointly run by UTM and TUDM. Its objective was to fulfill the need for skilled and semi-skilled human resources in the aeronautical field especially in the public sector. TUDM required human resources to operate, maintain, repair, oversee and manage different types of aircraft and UTM had the capability to produce graduates in this field. This need has continued to increase with the development in the airline industry in Malaysia which demands for more trained manpower especially engineers and technical assistants. 2. Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT)

Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) is the premier aviation training institution in Malaysia. The institute has won various awards and recognition both internationally and locally. In 2008, UniKL MIAT became the first Maintenance Training Organization (MTO) to be recognized by the Department of Civil Aviation and later by Frost and Sullivan as the Asia Pacific Aviation Workforce Development 2008. Collaboration effort with Aero-Building Gmbh Department of Civil Aviation of Germany, UniKL MIAT is also qualified to offer European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License training programme.

3. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) : Faculty of Engineering

The Department of Aerospace Engineering was founded in 1996 to support the development of national aerospace industries as proclaimed in the National Blueprint for the Development of the Aerospace Industry in Malaysia. For these reasons, the Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering was introduced that year which emphasis on aeronautics, and astronautics engineering courses.

4. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) : School of Aerospace Engineering

School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Engineering Campus, was established on the 1st March 1999. Before that, Aerospace Engineering Unit was established which operated from 13 May 1998 until 28 February 1999. The school was established in realizing the needs to produce aerospace engineering graduates with high expertise, creativity, and societal values, and competent in following the rapid technology development in aerospace endustry. After graduation, the graduates shall be eligible to work in government institution, half-government bodies, or private institutions which are actively involve in aerospace industry or those which are relevant.

5. International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) : Kuliyyah of Engineering

The Aerospace Engineering programme aims to help students develop into quality graduates possessing strong foundations in engineering, firm Islamic values, ethics as well as management skills. In addition to the fundamental and technical requirements in Aerospace Engineering it has critical components of management/entrepreneurship, and Islamic revealed knowledge. The goal is to make IIUM engineering graduates competent in the design and analysis of aerospace vehicles, manage technology and conduct their profession as ethically sound engineers . Also to produce graduates whom can compete in ?the area of designing, producing the control and system of an aircraft. Also to enhance knowledge in the dynamics aspects of the aircraft as well as management techniques.

6. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) : Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1996. Earlier it was known as the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the School of Engineering when its first programmed was offered in 1968. Started with Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a student number of 7,the faculty has since grown to become one of the most successful engineering faculties in UiTM with student enrolment exceeding 1500 per year. The faculty now offers a total of six programmed in three levels which are one programmed at diploma level (EM110), two degree level programmed (EM220, EM221) and three postgraduate level programmed (EM780, EM774, EM980). Beside the Shah Alam Campus, The diploma programmed is only offered at the UiTM Penang Branch Campus. There are plan to extend the diploma programmed to other UiTM Branch Campuses.

7. Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) : Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (FKMP) in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) was established on 1 May 2004 since the restructuring of Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Technology Engineering. The management of the faculty is leading by a Dean, two (2) Deputy Dean and six (6) department heads. A new department named Department of Aeronautical Engineering has been added to the faculty recently.

DIODE’s leadership series for 2010 comprises the DIODE School Leavers Camp, DIODE Youth Leadership Camp and DIODE Tweens Camp.

While each camp has its respective modules, all of them focus on developing leadership skills for youth.

The DIODE School Leavers Camp is catered to those who are leaving secondary school for university or to work. This is the stage where values are formed and we teach them about networking and survival skills.

The DIODE Youth Leadership Camp is for those aged between 14 and 17 years and focuses on leadership.We expose them to entrepreneurial programmes based on business simulation and activities.

The DIODE Tweens Camp is targeted at those who are stepping into their teenage years. It addresses the transitional mindset for those aged between 12 and13. We teach them about survival skills in school and expressing themselves in a positive manner. They learn values like respect, honesty, hard work, and how to deal when feeling rebellious.

I’d like to share my experience here, having been to the hardship to secure the loan for my Master degree in Software Engineering, and had tried most of the private and public banks i.e. OCBC, OUB, HSBC, CIMB, RHB, Rakyat, Public, Maybank, Hong Leong, EON and Islamic. I can tell you through my face-to-face experience, none of them offer loan in this recession time.

The only insurance company offers loan is Great Eastern, and mainly for undergraduate. You can speak to the manager Ms Melissa Ong.

Astro and Maxis stops sponsoring postgraduate too. well at least not for the IT, the last Maxis scholar was an MBA who worked for them more than 10 years. I doubt they are really mean the apps are open to public.

For my case it is slight different, it is possible to approach Khazanah-Merdeka scholarship, they can argue that they are independent and non-racist, when I approached them, it was no longer the case.

At once stage, I even tried GIC singapore scholarship, but Singapore also tighten up with financial prob too and reduce the number of scholar.

By the way, having to study at University of Oxford is a bless, and having to be a citizen of Malaysia is to train you be a tough guy.
