I am a boy. I live in a happy family.

  1. My name is Nour Zantah. I graduated from Damascus University, Department of Fine Arts in 2011, with an average of 72.49. I majored in Graphic design.
I got 80 marks for my graduation project, “Damascus – A Contemporary Vision. This project gained words of admiration and support from my teachers and colleagues and came in the second place. I have participated in several artistic workshops in various locations in Syria. Besides, I participated last year in a workshop about photography and graphic design entitled “Wonderful Denmark” in Denmark.
Among my non-artistic activities I generally do a lot of reading and web surfing. In addition, I believe that every one of us has obligations towards their community. Therefore, I volunteered in 2009 to work for 75 days at the “Saadah House for Elders” in Damascus. I also put my art in the service of the Syrian community through participating in various events like the National Campaign for Protecting the Environment from Nylon Bags, Inauguration of the Children Section in Al Bayrouni Hospital for Treating Cancer (by volunteering to design the wall paintings in the rooms), and Bab Touma Square Renovation Campaign.
More importantly, all my life I had a passion for Expressive Dance. I was a member in different dance groups throughout the years like Inana and Nahawand. I consider my most outstanding non-academic achievement to be participating with Nahawand’s children play Cinderella as the character of Cinderella herself.
As for the future, I intend to continue my studies to get a master in Fine Arts leading me to get the PhD in Fine Arts. Then I plan to teach arts and graphic design at university. In general, I tend to stay afar from the materialism of working in the graphic design market. Therefore, I would rather to have teaching as my source of funding in order to give myself and my time to art.
At present, I am doing my best to earn a scholarship to study abroad. On one side, I have a growing thirst for knowledge. On the other side, I feel a void inside me calling for all that is different and exotic. I love being open to other cultures. While I am deeply rooted in my homeland, I do feel that I belong to the whole world. After all, we are all connected to our mother earth. Besides, I desire to study abroad because it will help me to realize my independence and self-actualization.
If I am accepted in this scholarship, I will benefit from my studies on my return to my home country in my work as a lecturer at university. I hope to introduce new methodologies both in teaching art and in graphic design. I am sure your scholarship will help me modernize the way we look at graphic design in Syria.
I hope that you find me eligible and deserving of the Chevening Scholarship. I promise you that I will not disappoint you.

  2. I am not eligible for this scholarship program…If I was then I will surly apply for this one..
